Introduction
To acquire advanced scientific research skills, knowledge and methods, updated and in line with international standards. To analyze, evaluate and synthesize new and complex ideas in Art History, in areas of its cultural, artistic, heritage and social application, or in related interdisciplinary domains. To understand systematically and thoroughly the scientific domain of Art History, Visual Culture and of the Artistic and Visual Heritage, namely through a broad and updated knowledge of its methodologies and main theoretical perspectives, its concepts and research methods. To develop, with operational control and critical reflection, competences and research skills. To design and conduct research work in accordance with demanding standards of academic quality and integrity. To contribute for the extension of the knowledge frontiers in the cultural and scientific area of Art History, in articulation with the artistic and cultural heritage knowledge about social, institutional, artistic, cultural, religious, and technological phenomena. To communicate, orally and in writing, with its peers, with the rest of the academic community and with society in general, the main actual problems, at present of its disciplinary domain. To disseminate, clearly and systematically, the base, the procedures and the conclusions of the research and studies. To promote, in an academic and / or professional context, socio-institutional, heritage and cultural progress.
