Introduction
PhD Program in Contemporary History [PDHC] is a study program hosted by the Institute for Advanced Studies and Research of the University of Évora (IIFA). PDHC is the vertex of a guided route on academic Historical Studies oriented to training Historians as “early stage Researchers”, in whose profile six characteristics are distinguished: Focus on the cognitive History of evolutions and connections between Europe, Africa and the Americas in 19-20th Centuries; Academic orientation conducted by the perspectives (research agendas and methodologies) of Comparative and /or Transnational History; Thematic and Analytical latitude and a fair competition between different Academic perspectives and approaches; Strong emphasis on theoretical and methodological training; Clearly framed in transdisciplinary (agenda) and interdisiplinary (theoretical studies ans historiographical practices) research environment.; Commitment to “internationalization”, that include integration into research agendas, inter-institutional mobility, training and research academic networks, and allocation of academic, scientific, communicational and profissional skills, enablers to compete in global market. In all formative process and elabotation of Thesis, students are integrated in Research Centers of the U. of Évora, namely CICP (UÉ), CIDEHUS (UÉ) and IHC (UÉ).
