Introduction
The Master Degree in Natural Resources Management and Conservation results from a collaboration between the University of Évora (UÉ) (School of Sciences and Technology) and the University of Lisbon (Instituto Superior de Agronomia) (ISA).
The first and third semester are lectured at the ISA (Lisbon), preferably at Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and the second semester is lectured in the UÉ facilities, both at Évora and at Sines (CIEMAR laboratory). Students are allow to stay at the CIEMAR lodging facilities free from charge.
The course aims to provide advance training in ecology and ecosystems, and management of biologic populations and communities, also integrating assessment tools and valuation components, recovery, sustainable use, mitigation of human pressures and ecosystems’ recovery. It also aims to train skilled professionals to autonomously and with predictive capacity deal with situations that require diagnostics and justifiable intervention in the management and conservation of natural biological resources; to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of plants, animal populations and both terrestrial and water ecosystems, inland, estuarine and sea waters; to contribute to a harmonious interaction between human populations and the ecosystems they live in.
