Introduction
The MA in History at the Univeristy of Évora prepares students to:
a) understand the role of History in the development of citizenship;
b) the practice of critical and reasoned debate;
c) identify the major topics of debate in historiography and emphasize its importance
The MA's teaching staff has outstanding academic skils and will provide close guidance to all students. Faculty members belong to several research units sponsored by the FCT (CIDEHUS-UÉVORA, CHAIA-UÉVORA and CEHFCI at IHC-UNL), which will offer short-term scholarships with the aim of supporting missions to archives and international events.
Main objectives: a) To promote research and advanced studies in the scientific areas of History and of Art History b) To develop knowledge on the Portuguese society in an historical and global framework c) To increase academic qualifications and promote the ability to apply historical research to present day societies, namely in the Alentejo’s region d) To prepare students to proceed to doctoral studies programs, to enter research teams or to apply to a big range of professional positions
