Introduction
This Master's course aims at providing the students with sound and authoritative knowledge and the ability to actively develop such knowledge in the areas of native and non-native languages and linguistics, based on previously acquired skills and instruction and seeking to broaden and improve knowledge.
The study cycle aims at developing skills which allow the students to acquire academic specialization through research and innovation activities to strengthen their professional competences. They will acquire skills to be applied in problem solving in novel and unfamiliar situations in extended and multidisciplinary contexts thus contributing to increase knowledge of pragmatic, cultural social and ethical nature. The study cycle also aims at promoting an integrative perspective of knowledge, articulating and intersecting a diversified area of learning which can be found in the two branches and meet the interest of the clientele for multidisciplinary practices which may lead to research such as in the areas of terminology and terminography, phraseology and praseography, document organization, computing applied to translation (namely, dictionaries), tradutology, linguistic consultancy in Portuguese and European public and private institutions, education (in Portugal, Europe and Portuguese-speaking countries), through the publishing of materials for the teaching of Portuguese as a native and non-native language.
