Introduction
The course aims on training professionals with a scientific and technical profile appropriate to the growing demand for olive growers and olive oil experts, in order to meet the needs of a sector which is characterized by strong growth, dynamism and high introduction of cutting-edge technology. The curriculum has been designed to ensure a consolidation of knowledge on sustainable production systems of the olive orchards, on the most innovative processing technologies and marketing strategies. The Teaching/learning methodologies aim on promoting both, the development of autonomous and collaborative work, while stimulating the oral and written communication skills of the students. The direct contact with I&D activities, especially those developed in the Mediterranean Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, will also enhance their research skills. The integration of the University of Evora in the main Portuguese region for olive production, as well as the partnerships with leading companies in the sector, created conditions for a quality education, focused on the reality of the sector and benefiting from scientific bases and the most innovative technologies.
