Introduction

The Master Degree in Geological Engineering is oriented to the Labor Market. The principle is "Learning by Doing, toward competence and employability."

The proposed second cycle degree program has as main objective to supply the futures masters a solid formation and integrated in the area of the Geological Engineering, mainly, Georesources and Geotechnics, it allows them capacities in several domains.

The student can carry out their Dissertation / Internship / Project in Enterprise Context. To this end, cooperation agreements have been established with more than 30 enterprises and institutions specialized in Geological and Geotechnical Prospection, Industrial and Ornamental Rocks, Engineering and Environmental Geology, Soil and Rocks Mechanics, Slope Stability, Water Resources, Geological and Geotechnical Cartography, Mineral Resources, Oversight of Extractive Activities.

The Master in Geological Engineering will be enabled to develop works of scientific investigation, as well as to exercise his/her activity in the central and regional administration, municipal districts, consultancy offices, public and private laboratories, building companies, dimension stones exploitation and transformation companies, offices of studies of environmental impact and professional formation centers.

Professional Careers

Geological exploration, geochemistry and geophysics of mineral resources. Exploration, treatment and management of mineral metallic, non-metallic and energy resources (mines, quarries, petroleum, coal, gas, water, geothermic, etc.). Dimension stones and industrial rocks exploitation and transformation management. Evaluation of environment al impacts of the extractive activities. Geological and geotechnical studies of requested areas for engineering works (buildings, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, dams, marine works, etc.). Geologic and geotechnical mapping, mining mapping, mapping to support the plans of territory management, geological risks mapping. Support to conservation works of the cultural heritage built in stone (monuments). Consultancy, technical support to companies of surveys. Technical coordination of quarries, geotechnical works and thermal water facilities. Teaching, investigation and technical diffusion in matters related with the Geological Engineering.
